COCOA CLUB RULES
How to use the card
The funds used to purchase the cards will be placed in an escrow account for a period of six months or until
the minimum amount we feel we need to open is within the escrow account -- it's the power of the crowd, where
the cumulative effect of individuals can do something amazing that no one person or small group could
accomplish.
If the six month period elapses with the aforementioned amount not reached, Club members will be given the
option to have the funds returned by check through the U.S. Postal service regular mail within the next 30 days.
When this amount is reached, the funds will be used to open Cocoa Bakery and fund its initial operations.
The cards will never expire.
Note: The cards can only be used once Cocoa Bakery is open and not before for any purchases.
Each card member will be contacted via email once Cocoa is open. Email and contact information will be
required when card is purchased and loaded into system.
Once Cocoa is open, the cards can be used for any purchase: phone orders, Internet purchases and for
purchases at the store or restaurant, as well as for special orders, such as wedding or custom cakes.
Commercial customers and retail customers are welcome to use this program.
Using your card for a purchase is similar to using a credit card. When you are ready to pay, give the card to
the cashier and ask to sign the purchase receipt. The cashier will swipe your card to pay for your purchase
and give you a receipt showing the balance and the amount left on the card.
If asked, swipe the card through the keypad, push the "credit" button and sign the receipt.
Note: the cards don’t have a PIN, so, if "debit" is selected, your transaction will be declined.
Each time your card is used for a purchase, that amount is automatically deducted from your balance.
The card is 'non-reloadable', so additional money cannot be added to the balance of the card. The card does
not offer a line of credit like a credit card. The initial value available for use is determined by the person who
purchased the card.
Card balances can be checked online at https://checkbalance.rewardforloyalty.com/. Just plug your card
number into the window and you can see all of your card activity and your remaining balance.
How to activate the card
Once the minimum is reached, the card will be mailed to you activated and loaded with the amount purchased
and the premium (for example, a $100 card will arrive with a $105 value on the card).
Also, be sure to sign in the designated area on the back before making your first purchase. Your signature will
help prevent the card from being used by someone else.
Membership Levels
Discounts increase as the amount placed on the cards increase at the following increments:
"Cookie" $50.00 to $99 = 0%
"Cream puff" $100.00 to $249 = +5%
"Cupcake" $250.00 to $499 = +10%
"Box of truffles" $500.00 to $999 = +25%
"Wedding cake" $1,000.00 or more = +27%
The percent discount listed above will be added to the card as a premium, such that a $100 card will have an
actual value of $105, (5% of $100 is $5).
Online and Phone Purchases
To make an online or phone purchase once Cocoa is open, you will need to register your card. You can do
this by either calling the issuing provider, or by visiting their website. This information should have been
supplied to you when you received the card. It may also be printed on the back of the card.
When you make an online or phone purchase, the name, address, and phone number you use will need to be
exactly the same as the information you provided when registering your card.
If the information you provide differs from what was provided when the card was registered, the transaction
may be declined.
Returning Items
All Cocoa Bakery items are made from scratch and without preservatives, and as such everything is made and
sold fresh. As such, there are no returns of our items.

It takes a village to open a bakery.
Let's face it, you're eager as eager as we are to get Cocoa's doors open. Cocoa kicked off construction right as
the US economy went into full swoon, and we've had a challenging time since then getting across the finish line.
But we have a plan.
And it's a win-win. The plan will allow Cocoa to open its doors and you to get a discount as soon as it does -
Cocoa Club.
In a nutshell: We sell discounted Cocoa Bakery gift cards to you, and put the money in escrow until we hit a set
amount that Cocoa needs to finish construction and get open. We give ourselves six months to do it. If we don't
hit the minimum, we give the money back. We hit the minimum, we get open and you use the cards at our store,
online or on the phone to buy whatever your sweet tooth needs, whether it's a cookie or a wedding cake.
