Pastry Chef Jessica Isaacs' Biography
Does Cocoa make wedding custom cakes?
Is the Pope Catholic? (Yes, he is.) You dream it up, we’ll do
our best to make what you envisioned on your wedding day a
reality. Visit our
cakes page for some creative ideas.

If you are looking for a place to start in designing your own
cake, here are a few questions that can help match your
cake to the occasion: What season will the wedding take
place? How formal will the occasion be? What does your
gown look like or the reception space? Do you have colors
selected or a floral theme for the wedding? Feel free to bring
swatches of fabric or pictures of cakes you like when meeting
for
your consultation.

What are my options for cake filling?
You have a great deal of choices for filling, including fresh
fruits and a variety of buttercreams. Again, there are a lot of
creative options (cannoli, mascarpone, chocolate ganache)
so bring your ideas to your consultation.

What are my options for cake icing?
Two common options are buttercream or fondant. Fondant, a
paste made of sugar, corn syrup, water, and gelatin that
gives cakes that smooth finished look, is rolled out and then
smoothed and shaped over the cake.

How far in advance are Cocoa wedding cakes
made?
Cocoa will need a month’s notice at minimum to
prepare a wedding cake. A 50% deposit is needed to
secure the date and the remainder is due two weeks
prior to the day of the event. There will be an
additional deposit on cake pillars and plates, which
will be refunded upon their return.

We suggest you place your order three to four
months in advance to hold the date, especially if you
require delivery. May and June are our busiest
months.

Who will bake my wedding cake?
Pastry Chef Jessica Isaacs will oversee every
wedding cake baked at Cocoa, though it will likely be
a team who will work on individual cakes, as they are
very labor-intensive.
How are Cocoa’s wedding cakes priced?
Choices you make in a cake’s ingredients will affect the
price, so a gold-leaf gilded fondant icing will be priced
higher than a simple buttercream frosting. Wedding
cakes are priced by the slice. Pricing for cakes start at
$4/serving.

Does Cocoa’s cake include the top tier?
Cocoa includes the top tier in the price of its wedding
cakes. The top tier is counted as part of the total
number of servings.

Do Cocoa’s wedding cakes include the wedding
topper?
Cocoa does not include toppers in its price.

Does Cocoa deliver its wedding cakes?
Cocoa will deliver in the tri-state area and parts of
Pennsylvania. The fee primarily depends on the
distance travelled.

One or two tiered wedding cakes can be picked up. We
do not recommend pick-up for wedding cakes larger
than 2 tiers, or cakes that require special handling.
Wedding cakes that require on-site finishing or special
set- ups may require a set-up charge in addition to the
delivery charge.
Are there refunds offered with proper notice for
wedding cakes?
50% Refund of Deposit amount will be given up to 2
weeks in advance of delivery date. No refund for cakes
cancelled within 2 weeks of delivery time. Most cakes
may be rescheduled at no charge up to 48 hours in
advance.

What about liability?
Cocoa Bakery & Cafe will not be liable for defaults,
delays, or changes to your order due to acts of
God, acts or demands of any government or
government agency, acts of terrorism, strikes, fire,
floods,
accidents or other unforeseeable cause beyond our
control and not due to our fault or gross negligence.
